Driving is the pits..

..in DC. The beltway is always a total wreck when I leave my office. I don't rage half as bad as some of the nimrods on the road but I fear I will the longer i stay here. It is amazing how much road work it seems like they are doing but it never amounts to anything but night milling and paving. Argh, that doesn't alleviate any of the traffic. They are doing some type of bridge that will connect to part of 495 who knows when that will be done. I should as Begone since he is part of the mess. I miss taking metro. Our house is so far out that instead of tacking on the usual 2 extra hours for a metro/bus ride I would prolly need to do 4. I miss sleeping on the metro or reading my book.   >_<
Also, much hate to the people who drive the measly 55mph in the left lane. Why are you there? Please get out of my way.

So friggin glad it is the weekend. Le sigh....serenity now.

Ugh, today has been a really slow day. Just like yesterday and the day before, etc.. I have one order on my desk which I have not done because it won't ship until next week and I will not have anything to do for the rest of the week. The most I have had to do was work on some marketing for a couple of the stores, which is really not all that bad.

I have had some time to browse the internet and was checking out other people's Otakon 08 pics ( I was really bored). I think last year everyone did whatever the hell they wanted to and we weren't always running in a big ol pack like we normally did. We also lost a pack member this year but I am working on another. I'll get Bucket to come if it kills me!!! An extra person will cut costs. Between [info]elvenone and myself we have 4rooms reserved. We did it through that stupid passkey website linked from the Otakon website. Well, here's the thing with that. You are not guaranteed a room until June. They collect all the names from the passkey site put it on a disk and send it to the Hotel. If your name gets left off that list you are pretty much pwnd.  >_>  I don't like that because come June there will be nothing left. I have been pestering Hilton for a little bit and will continue to do so until I know we are getting a room!

Anywho I got my replacement fabric yesterday and I like the look of it, so I can keep moving forward. I'll sew some more when I get home then make some tonkatsu. Woohoo!

Went to see Rachel to get some coloring done on my tattoo last thursday. I must say that the coloring was a lot less painful than the lining. Yay, no butt twitching this time around.
Anywho a girl in the next room was there with a friend, who was getting tattooed, when I was asked to go over to show her boss. She asked me "did I cry?". I told her no. We had a dandy time and there were also multiple mini dance breaks. She was supposed to get one the following week. I hope I didn't mislead her because it is painful I just didn't cry.
We only did another two hour session because that is all I had monies for. I must say she is an amazing artist. I can't wait for completion, which will hopefully be the end of next month...  >.>

What are you?

So, I am sitting at my desk and one of the lawyer's clients is staring at me. He proceeds to come over to me and asks "what are you". Now right about now I should be upset but, I hear this all the time. It started when I was in my late teens.  I worked in retail so I suppose that since I was helping them, it was ok to ask such an absurd question to someone they didn't know.

I remembered the first time someone asked me that I didn't understand. He was like your ethnicity. I thought it was clear "what i was" but evidently, it wasn't. I said black and he proceeds to say "Oh really?".  -_-''  I told him I think I would know.

Now back to that guy in the office. When he asks me I look at him and say, what do you think I am. He says I look indian. I ask him what makes him think that and proceeds to tell me a bunch of stuff about face structure, blah blah blah. He then asks my parents heritage and where they were from and if i was sure that none of them hailed from India.  >_>  I said don't you think I would know where my parents were from?  He himself was Indian and that was totally clear to me. I could definitely tell what he was.

I get Indian alot.  I think you have to have huge cojones to ask someone you do not know at all what they are. It was less annoying years ago. Not so much anymore. I joke with my friends that I should wear a button that says just black. Maybe I should sing the song from CB4

So yeah, got the owl decoy two weeks ago. We struggled with putting it up and when I say struggle i mean we broke the damn thing before we nailed it up. We looked like a couple of clowns on the roof and I remember looking out the corner of my eye at the pigeons staring at us. I am pretty sure one of them chuckled.

Anywho, week 2 we finally got it up eventhough the head was cracked and I think it is working. I actually got to sleep in on Sunday. Woohoo!

Resident Evil Pigeon Diet

Nerd Alert: Downloaded the demo for the 5th installment of Resident Evil and I have to say I am pretty horny for it.  The demo had online and local co-op which was pretty awesome, since I suck at the aiming system and having a partner made it much easier. I think that is the only thing I had a hard time adjusting to. I miss auto aim... >_<
I will have to check to see if the full game will have local play because if not Begone and I will not be able to play together. I think that is why I had Bucket download the demo, just in case. That way I will have an online partner as well. OMG I can not wait for this game!

Oh and if you didn't know already pigeons are the sux0rz! They have a nest on our roof in a niche outside of our bedroom window. They start their cooing in the wee hours of the morning. I hear them walking across our roof and sometimes they fly into the window. Little sonsabitches are a menace!  The first time we dealt with them we tore their nest down and threw it in the trash (no remorse btw). Of course they returned, but instead of purchasing a gun and blowing them away we decided to purchase an owl decoy.
http://www.yardlover.com/products.php?pid=12   Not the exact one we got but it is the same concept. While taking a walk  through the neighborhood, quite a few of our neighbors have these decoys outside the enclave of their bedroom window. I guess the pigeons rule around this area. Dirty little buggers.  >_<  I hope this works otherwise, we will have to think of another way to destroy them.

On a more heinous note it is diet time. I hate to do it but it needs to be done. My eating habits need to change and I have done it once before and it worked out really well. Why oh why does everything that tastes so yummy be so bad for you? Anywho Spear, who is a monster when it comes to working out and eating healthy, came up with his very own diet plan. It works but I tell you what, it is monstrous. If you can stick to it, it really works. It's long and drawn out so it's in the cut.

Saudi Diet )So here's to eating right and suffering. I hope this helps me with what I am trying to accomplish...I have a big goal.

That is what Obama called the people in the state of Virginia and you know what, he is right. There are other states out there who have had a hell of a lot more snow dumped on them and they are going to work and school. Everything is still functioning. I grew up in Ohio and I have had to drive on a completely covered freeway, slipping and sliding around. That was bad. Less than an inch of snow causes total panic in this state. Schools and government closes and things just completely shut down. I went to work the other day and people in SUVs and 4x4s could not drive their cars..in less than an inch of snow! The only good thing is that there were not alot of people out on the roads so I got to work nice and early. All in all I think I am just bitter cause I had to work.  >_<''

I stole this from [info]thereallink , which i suppose was stolen from others.
Go through the list and check off the titles you have watched. "Watching" a title means that for TV and OVA series, you have to have seen at least one episode. For one-shots, you have to have seen the whole thing. At the end of each genre/category, add up your sub-total. At the very end, add up the sub-totals to come up with your grand total. If your grand total is 80 or over, congratulations -- you are an obsessive anime watcher!

I think I already know the outcome.  )

Hotlanta

Well, it wasn't really that hot this time around. Twice a year I travel with my company to AmeriMart, where we purchase items for the stores. I love going, I learn alot and I get to see another group of buyers from PA. The ONLY downside to the whole trip is what happens when we retire to the hotel when the day is done. See because the mart is a place where you can schmooze with top vendors or treat your reps to a "job well done" dinner there is a lot of hulabaloo surrounding the "event" of eating. After a friggin long day of walking the showrooms we unload our catalogs and such at the hotel. Sometimes there is enough time where we can grab a drink before dinner in the bar most of the times not. After we assemble at the restaurant with no less than 10 people we order and eat. Seems simple enough but I tell you what if we sit down at 7:30 we won't leave until 10. It's all well and good if you didn't have to get up at 6 in the morning. Like I said love the event but the gaggle of peeps at dinner works my nerves. It is always a nice evening when it is the four of us. Oh well, it'll be another rinse and repeat in July.

Nerd Alert: Got to see Resident Evil: Degeneration. Loved it!! It was like one long in game movie. They did a really great job animating it and the storyline was pretty good. It starred resident evil 2's Leon and Claire. What is even more awesome is that I got it on Bluray!!! I love Resident Evil. I even read the books so long ago by SD Perry. March 13th can't come quick enough.

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday.  I was at[info]blumbo19 's for the day with Begone. There was lots of food, gifts and shenanigans.  After the festivities ended Begone and co went to Peking Gourmet for the annual peking duck christmas dinner. I don't know what year they are on but I do know that in the 4years that we have been together I have not been to any of them. It really didn't bother me because I needed to do laundry for work today......bleh.

Anywho I took some pics with the super fascinator on mah head. I took some with the camera flash on and some with it off.

So yeah, I thought no longer being able to say I was twenty-something was going to be a big deal but it's not. I did quite a few things leading up to the big day ( new cut & car!!). You would think the car would be the thing I was most excited about but nope...wait..that's a lie. I am still pretty excited about the car considering the one I had before. I was really anxious about what was going to happen on my birthday. I got a new tattoo!!

It's been a couple years since my last one. Scratch that more than a couple years. I have known what I wanted for a long time and Rachel at Bethesda tattoo hooked me up. www.bethesdatattoo.com/rachel.htm   We finished the outline and I am gonna wait a couple weeks to go back for the color.

It's a phoenix! She put a lot of detail into it and I am gonna do a cut for the big pics.  0_0

So, Elvenone, you must check out her site:  blaspheminascloset.freeservers.com/clothing.html because I think you would look great in some of her pieces.

Cirque Du Soleil

I took Begone to see Kooza for his not quite birthday and it was amazing. I have always watched them on tv but it's so much more when you see it live. Kooza is in Dc, well it says it is DC but it is in National Harbor which is Maryland, through December and we both have always wanted to see Cirque so I surprised him with tickets to the show. It was a wonderful little story and the acts were terrific, I have to say that my favorite was the contortionists. The colors, music and costumes were beautiful and despite the small stage it seemed larger than life.

After the show I booked a room at the Gaylord. It is a hotel inside an atrium and they have their own little shops and even a little brook that babbles through the atrium level. We were lucky to get an atrium view in the room and it had a balcony facing the atrium so you could go out and check out the scenery down below. We ended up eating late, ordering a movie (Pineapple Express, very funny) and konking out. All in all it was a great day. We spent the next day at Bucket's playing Rock Band, drinking wine and eating ice cream. Very weird combo. He said he loved the gift and I said you damn well had better this shit was expensive!   >_<

Pics & Fatty )

On another note patterns I ordered came in gonna start work on mah corslet. I need to sew more. Work gets me annoyed and I normally  don't have the drive to want to sew after the horrendous drives home, so I end up playing video games instead. This project should give me some much needed motivation.

That is what I will now call the guy at work. He was sick on Monday and ended up not coming in. That is fine but he did come in Tuesday and was not completely well. This is not the season to come to work with germs. Especially when you DON'T COVER YOUR MOUTH WHEN YOU COUGH, EVER! He is a mass of nastiness.  One of my coworkers is having radiation treatments and she certainly does not need to be sick. So, how do you tell someone to cover their mouth without sounding like a dick? We were discussing it and no matter how you put it you sound rude. So instead, we went around spraying door knobs with oust. Think that made us look like jerks more than anything else....think he got the picture?

On another note kitty is sick. Ever hear a kitty cough it's sad.Fatty )

So, I was reading an article that Christian Siriano showed at Fashion Week last week and a co worker and myself wanted to see his collection. After some surfing she found a blog:  http://bloggingprojectrunway.blogspot.com/
If you have been to the site you know what you will see if not, then there are some spoilers there. Click at your own risk!

Imagine my surprise when we were able to see this season's finale collections. We did not look, well we did look at someone's collection  >_<
We did get to see Christian's collection though. I did go back to that site since then and took a look at Austin Scarlett's (season 1) collection. It was just what you would expect to see from him. It is a nifty little site.

Aww no T-mode...but wait.

So, instead of going to TMode a bunch of us went to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg as a going away celebration for Phuckysquirrell. He is going to Hong Kong to work for a year with his job. It is an awesome oppurtunity and I wish him all the luck. I told him to start a LJ so I can read about his exploits. 0_0

Anyway we went up on Saturday morning in hurricane Hannah weather hoping that the park was still going to be open. Superpocky really wanted to ride wet rides , go figure.  >_<  Anywho on the way there elvenone called the park and no surprise, it closed down despite being open just a few hours earlier. We stopped at Cracker Barrel for a really big breakfast and called ahead to the hotel and asked for an early check in.  Once we hit the hotel the guy at the front desk had such a crap day from the people ragging on him that he upgraded us to a suite. He also took off the extra room we had reserved when we thought we were going to have more people. The suite was awesome.

The rain stopped and the sun came out as soon as we got into the suite. So we hit some shops and caught a movie (Tropic Thunder was pretty funny!). We had some dinner then caucused on what to do next. We didn't want to spend too much money at a bar so we ended up buying some booze and uno cards and played drunken uno. Good Times!

Sugoi Ben came up from VA Beach with his brother and we hit the park. All I have to say is men are weak. Elvenone and myself went crazy on the roller coasters while some of the guys chickened out or couldn't stomach the ride. The park was not packed at all so on some of the rides we were able to get off run back and hit the ride again with no wait. That was amazing. Here is what we rode:
Cork Screw Hill
Griffon x 2
Alpengeist x 2
Pompei
Big Bad Wolf
Apollo's Chariot
Dark Castle
Loch Ness Monster

The weather was fantastic on Sunday I am glad we waited because the laid back Saturaday we had was super.
It was an all around good weekend except for the drive home. That was a friggin mess. I had fun and I am gonna miss phuckysquirrell. He is gonna have an amazing time though.
