Rukia Sode No Shirayuki tutorial/tips?

  • Jan. 5th, 2010 at 6:36 PM
Does anyone here know where I can find a tutorial to make a Sode No Shirayuki model for Anime Boston? Also, any tips for a first time cosplayer attempting to cosplay the younger Kuchiki?

ETA-- If someone has any suggestions for kenseikan for my Byakuya cosplayer, that would be nice too :)

does anybody here have experience using temptu dura colours?

http://www.camerareadycosmetics.com/proddetail.php?prod=TemptuDuraSpecialtyColors

i'm curious to know if a 1 oz bottle will last a while, as i'm not really sure how much to buy. also, if you have any tips on applying/removing the paint, please share! i plan on painting it on with a paint brush. thank you!

for reference, this is the tattoo i'm trying to replicate )

edit: ALSO. if i dye a white cami, will the trim dye too? or will it stay white? i think it's a satin trim, but i'm not 100%.

Cutting Sweater Sleeves Off

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 8:56 PM
Ok ... I found the perfect color sweater at the thrift store for a dollar for a Kurumu cosplay ~ yay! Only *small* dilemma - it's actually a sweater and not a sweater vest ... so ... I thought, I'll just cut off the sleeves. NOW, before I start hacking away at this *perfect* sweater with scissors, does anyone have any advice about doing this? Like, something I should know in advance so I don't ruin the clothing.

Thanks for your advice!

Nice Holystone Cosplay

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 4:00 PM
The girl on the right is Nice Holystone from Baccano.  http://bomb.rinne.nu/caps/screen_057.jpg

My friend friend and her boyfriend are doing Chane and Clair and they want to add more cosplayers to their Baccano cosplay.. Problem is I can't find a GOOD red halter like that. I'd even take white and dye it red.

I am on the larger size. L to XL depending on the make just FYI

Does anyone have anyway to help me or where to look?

I know the pics aren't great but thats the best I can find.

HELP

catsuit craziness- advice PLEASE!

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 4:12 PM
A friend of mine recently agreed to costume one of the Black Hearts from Venture Bros with me this year, which basically involves a long-sleeved, high-necked catsuit with a cutout. (behind cut for picture, it turned out to be a bit large.)

However, now that it's been decided, we seem to be going back and forth on the catsuit issues almost daily.

I worry about the fit and the material more than the cost, and keep leaning towards a lycra suit, possibly custom fit. (Many ebay sellers seem to offer this option.) I'm looking at something like this style (though this is honestly the cheapest of the cheap I've found.)

She is more concerned about the budget, and much, MUCH more trusting of sites like these.

Something that really puts me off is the same STOCK PHOTOS used for different catsuits!! I have NO IDEA what I'm going to end up getting!!

BioShock II Big Sister

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 12:16 AM
So, I'm looking into finding a prop maker who can make the more intricate pieces of a Big Sister costume from BioShock II. Which is most of the costume, granted. Lost of people do simple weapons or jewelry...but not so many with the giant tanks and cages and helmets. It wouldn't be necessary to do any of the clothing bits, or the leg braces, although I wouldn't mind having the braces included.

This is of course a large and involved thing, and I'm looking for it to be finished for A-Kon Dallas, which is at the beginning of June. This gives a quick 5 months, so I understand if no one is willing to move that quickly, but I figured I'd ask to see if anyone was available and willing to at least get a quote going for me.

In all, I'd be looking for the helmet, the tank, the cage, the arm weaponry, and possibly the leg braces.

MGS Patch Help?

  • Jan. 3rd, 2010 at 1:29 PM
I'm hoping to cosplay Sniper Wolf from the MGS series, and am looking for the patch she wears. Does anyone know where I can find it online? Also, what wig color/style would anyone suggest? I'm thinking either the Ena or Harmony from Amphigory, but am open to other suggestions!

Adjustable back?

  • Jan. 3rd, 2010 at 11:51 AM
I'm starting to think of costumes to start making for the convention season, but right now I'm 7 months pregnant and really don't have much of an idea as to what my size will be exactly postpartum. I was thinking of making all of my costumes with lace-up style backs instead of zipper so that they can be adjusted a little bit. I don't really know how to do it though. Anyone know how I might be able to?

Cosplay help?

  • Jan. 2nd, 2010 at 10:08 PM
For Anime Central this year in May I'm tentatively hoping to cosplay as Megumi Yamamoto from Special A. My only issue is, I can't for the life of me find a good pattern for either the skirt or the blazer, and I'm not entirely sure what to do for the wig.

I found a half-wig/extension that has the curl that I'm looking for
here, and I'm not entirely sure if I should pair something like that with another wig, or with my own hair, given that mine is a bit too thin to do bangs like Megu's.

Reference image

I'm looking for some serious help here, most preferably pattern/fabric suggestions for the outfit, as well as the wig, since there's a group order for Cyperous that's closing within the month, and I'd like to have it figured out by then if at all possible.
